If you’re too young to understand what I am referring to with “Gordon Banks” then I do suggest you look it up. Yes, it was a great save from Pele, but it was a very long time ago and things move on – he should have held it!
As a massive sports fan, one thing that I believe has definitely improved over time is the availability of sport to watch as it happens. Gone are the days of having to check Ceefax page 341 for the latest update to the cricket or waiting to open the Sunday newspaper to see who had turned out for Notts County in the top of the table clash.
The truth is that change is inevitable and whilst non-sports fans will say the dawn of Sky Sports was the worst thing that could have happened and ardent fans of the BBC will think it a disgrace that the normal TV licence payer cannot now watch many of the major sporting events for “free,” the reality is that they do it well and for those of us that put a high value against that, then we are much happier for it.
Change is important; it is exciting and it is ultimately crucial to both individuals and businesses alike if we want to live and work in the world today and survive tomorrow.
