Lasting cost-optimisation solutions for the intralogistics industry

At IMHX, the leading intralogistics trade fair in the UK (13th to 16th September 2016, Birmingham), Fronius will be presenting innovative solutions on every aspect of charging traction batteries. With its vast range of products and services, the global technology leader from Austria is able to guarantee cost savings for its customers in the intralogistics sector.

Visitors will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the company’s wide range of products on Stand V80 in Hall 12. The highlight will be Fronius’ own invention, the Ri charging process, which has completely revolutionised the charging of electrically powered forklift trucks. It reduces energy loss at the start of charging and during the recharging phase, thereby lowering energy costs and CO2 emissions. At the same time, ultra-cool and gentle charging significantly increases the service life of the batteries. Furthermore, with the Fronius Selectiva battery charging systems, users can flexibly charge different types of battery using the Ri charging process, which reduces purchasing costs, simplifies processes in the company and allows the charging technology to be standardised. The new Selectiva models in the 2kW and 3kW power categories – designed for 24 and 48 V traction batteries – will also be on show at IMHX. Fronius offers an extended five-year warranty for all Selectiva devices, an area of particular interest to those with leasing contracts.

The Fronius stand will also play host to the “Cool Battery Guide Easy” information and management system; a solution for optimum utilisation of the battery pool. A control unit connected to an LED strip on each battery charging system intuitively guides the user to the battery that has been fully charged for the longest. This ensures that all batteries are used equally as often and have enough time to cool down. Equipping standards-compliant battery charging rooms and stations is another area in which Fronius is an expert partner. The specialist supports its customers right from the planning phase and ensures that the systems meet all the necessary requirements, including fire and explosion protection or occupational health and safety. With its range of different charging and safety modules as well as other accessories, Fronius provides all the essential equipment and infrastructure components from a single source.

On top of all this, Fronius will be using IMHX as a stage to demonstrate its wealth of expertise in optimising intralogistics processes. Using the free I-SPoT calculation tool, the company provides its customers with a precise analysis of the ongoing operating costs associated with their forklift truck systems. By taking certain parameters into account, such as the number of weekly charging cycles, electricity price, battery capacities and available charging times, Fronius can calculate the potential savings in terms of energy costs and CO2 emissions. The I-SPoT Viewer visualisation tool provides the perfect overview of charging data and presents battery charging cycles in graph form. Errors, such as incorrect device settings or battery faults, can therefore be quickly identified and corrected, allowing users to significantly and permanently reduce their intralogistics costs.
