The high cost of moving premises is leading many businesses to look at installing mezzanine floors as a way of reclaiming wasted space in their existing building.
To meet rising demand for strong structural flooring that is easy to lay, leading wood panel manufacturer EGGER UK has launched a revolutionary new product – OSB HDX.
Produced using a special recipe, OSB HDX is a game changer for those involved in mezzanine flooring projects.
The new 30mm structural flooring board is ideal for use in industrial, commercial and warehouse flooring applications – being wider, lighter and stronger than conventional 38mm boards, as well as having higher load points and UDLs.
Dan Soulsby, EGGER UK’s category manager for building products explains: “As businesses grow they will often look to move premises in order to expand their operations. A more economical answer could be to consider installing a mezzanine floor in the existing premises. This allows the potential of doubling the area for a one-off cost.
“EGGER OSB HDX is ideal for this application as it provides the strength and stiffness required for a mezzanine floor, plus a whole host of additional benefits to the installer. It truly is an innovation in mezzanine flooring!”
EGGER OSB HDX is a 2400mm x 675mm board with a tongue and groove on the two long edges.
Against a typical 38mm chipboard equivalent with a 600mm width, the user gets just over 11% more coverage per panel. Despite this extra width, it is around 20% lighter than 38mm chipboard making it easier to manoeuvre and quicker to lay.
One early user of the new flooring is Anglia Partitions, based in Norfolk, who said: “We specify EGGER OSB HDX because of its superior structural properties over chipboard products available for mezzanine floor applications.
“We needed to achieve a high point loading requirement for a recent project and the EGGER OSB HDX product allowed us to achieve this. The board performed in all aspects, not only on strength but also how easy it was to handle – being lighter than the chipboard we are used to fitting. We will definitely be fitting EGGER OSB HDX in the future.”
