Jason Cox, Operations Director at Easypack speaks to Warehouse News about the forthcoming IMHX exhibition.

Warehouse & Logistics News – First of all, Jason, as Operations Director, what is your role in the company from day to day?

It’s fair to say that my role is pretty hands-on in all aspects of our business. As well as overseeing all business operations, I work closely with our sales and product development teams to ensure, above all, that we are not only aware of the needs of our customers, but that the solutions that we design and develop will provide them with long-term efficient, sustainable and reliable solutions.

WLN – Can you talk us through the different products and services Easypack provides?

Easypack designs and manufactures a wide range of highly engineered, robust and environmentally friendly packaging solutions. Our machines are designed to fit into any kind of packing operation, even if it means adapting them for special purposes. We are known predominantly for product reliability, which is vital for our customers as they cannot afford downtime. In addition to this, our packaging medium is 100% recycled, recyclable and biodegradable paper which is strong, adaptable and sustainable.

Our range of solutions and recycled paper options offer our customers an enormous amount of flexibility, not only in regard to the types of products that they can pack, but also that it minimises storage space and is easy for operators to use. With reliability being so high, our route service calls are non-intrusive and give us the opportunity to ensure that staff are fully trained for optimum packaging efficiency.

WLN – What kinds of businesses in what industry sectors are your solutions aimed at? What specific needs do they target?

Our products are flexible and scalable, making them ideal for a multitude of markets. Our customer base is very diverse, ranging from ceramics and cosmetics, through to electronics and mechanical parts.

It’s vital, regardless of the shape, size or quality of a product, that it is protected throughout transit and our robust packaging offers total in-thebox protection.

WLN -When was your business established? Who owns the company now? Which other countries do you operate in besides the UK?

Easypack was established in 1992 and continues to be run by its cofounder.

Easypack operates in the UK and across the whole of Europe and our products can be found in a diverse range of businesses.

WLN – What sets your company apart as a supplier in your sector? Why should busy professionals from the warehouse and logistics industry take time out to visit your stand at IMHX?

What is your overall message to visitors?

We take an enormous amount of pride not only in our success, but in the way that we are able to individually resolve customer problems. By dealing directly with us, the manufacturer, our customers benefit from solutions that meet their needs now and into the future.

Our specialist knowledge allows us to provide them with more than just a product. We show them how they can improve packing efficiency and how to reduce waste. We also issue our customers with an annual certificate which shows them how many new trees they have saved by using our 100% recycled packaging which can then be shared with their customers.

WLN -What will visitors be able to see on your stand at this year’s show?

Which of your core products and solutions are you presenting? Are you launching anything new at IMHX?

Visitors to our stand will be able to see a range of new products first hand, including our new ergonomically designed Packstation™ which offers a huge number of benefits. In addition to this we will be demonstrating new packaging techniques and introducing another brand new system, which will be shown for the first time at the show.

WLN – Is this your first time exhibiting at IMHX? If you’ve been there before, what are you doing that’s different to last time?

This is not the first time we have exhibited at IMHX and since that time we have increased our portfolio to include a new range of innovative products which offer a great choice of packing mediums, all of which are 100% recycled.

WLN – The last IMHX was in 2013. How have your customers’ needs changed since then? What are the biggest pressures your clients face these days? How are you addressing these?

There has been a significant change in the way that consumers and businesses purchase goods. High street businesses have had to adapt and offer customers the choice of shopping online too.

In addition to this businesses are increasingly aware that they need to demonstrate how they are reducing any impact on the environment and our environmentally friendly packaging solutions help customers to meet their environmental targets and improve efficiency.

WLN – Can you tell us about your major customer contract wins in the last three years? Do these represent new development areas for your company?

With more businesses now selling their products online we have seen growth across all sectors. In particular the manufacturing and electronics sectors, which traditionally sold their products through catalogues, now use ecommerce.

We have also seen a much higher demand from end users and e-commerce businesses looking for long term, sustainable and cost effective packaging solutions.

WLN – How do your products and solutions address today’s increased emphasis on safety and environmental impact in warehousing and logistics?

Will you be highlighting this aspect of your offering at the show?

Ergonomics is very much at the forefront of all that we do at Easypack. Our products are designed to be simple to operate and adaptable, enabling clients to fit them seamlessly into their operations and provide operator comfort. All of our packaging medium is 100% recycled, recyclable and biodegradable.

WLN – Thanks to technology, suppliers to this industry are getting much faster with their responses to customer enquiries. How soon after IMHX can visitors to your stand expect to receive a ‘live’ quote for using your solutions in their businesses?

As we deal directly with our customers, we’re able to respond to any enquiries within 48 hours.

WLN – And finally, it’s three years to the next IMHX. Where do you see your market sector and your company going in that time?

There’s a natural progression for businesses to demonstrate how they are reducing their environmental footprint and adopt green technologies that will shape a new age of environmentally friendly packaging. Over the next three years, Easypack will continue to innovate and expand throughout Europe and deliver the highest quality solutions that will enable more businesses to package and protect their goods in transit using our sustainable solutions.
