ClipperMINICLIPPER LOGISTICS LTD

Miniclipper Logistics had evolved from a groupage haulier to a 3PL with the ability to offer a full spectrum of logistics services.

An UKWA member for over 20 years, the company’s warehousing business is currently growing at a rate of 38 per cent a year.

Two new warehouse acquisitions have been completed in the past 18 months bringing the number of sites in the company’s portfolio to four.

The company’s client base includes Kodak, Madison Cycles, Expeditors, JD Sports and BA and with 70 live storage customers – of which the largest customer accounts for 13 per cent of pallet locations – Mini Clipper is in a healthy position.

One in three of Mini Clipper’s transport clients also use the company for storage.

“We encourage prospective customers to visit our warehouse operation early in the relationship – after all a partnership is the aim for both parties. We are the first and last people to see their stock,” says the company’s Jayne Masters.

The company’s clients are fulsome in their praise of Mini Clipper. For example, the MD of GMG Colour, a customer for three years,, says: “Since choosing Miniclipper Logistics, our customer service has improved greatly, we now have a ‘near zero’ error rate which has been instrumental in improving our clients’ satisfaction with our service. We can absolutely rely on them as our warehouse and logistics partner to do what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.”

CLIPPER LOGISTICS

Clipper Logistics operate a network of 40 sites and 6.2 million square feet of warehousing space.

The warehousing services offered by the company include: hanging and boxed storage; pallet storage; highvalue security cages; customs warehousing and seasonal relief warehousing. Fit out activity is well underway at Clipper’s latest facility. Located at junction 15 of the M1, the new build will initially provide circa 500,000 sq ft of space to bring together a number of the key elements of a multichannel supply chain.

In common with Clipper’s traditional approach the site will be shared use but has John Lewis as the anchor customer.

Clipper has developed high levels of capability in preretail and returns management and the solution created for John Lewis has both of these as key elements. Clipper will process all returns, irrespective of product category, for the retailer client under one roof and at a pace that will ensure John Lewis’s returns operation is an efficient component of the “omni-channel” experience.

The new site will also benefit from the inclusion of a sortation solution to complement the existing Click & Collect capability within the Clipper business. The facilities will provide national coverage and offer the opportunity for other retailers to benefit from the enhanced Click & Collect service.

The new-build facility was completed at the beginning of March, upon which the fit out commenced. Designed as a world class multichannel logistics hub, the site features state of the art equipment as well as operational and office space.

It will become operational in summer 2016 and reach its full capability later in the year.
