The fundraising events included a coffee morning on 19th November, a Christmas Jumper Day on 18th December and Fowler Welch’s biggest charity fundraising event of the year – the Big Bike Challenge – in September.

Commenting on the company’s fundraising success, Fowler Welch managing director, Nick Hay, said: “Throughout 2015, many events took place to raise money for our nominated charity of the year, ‘When you wish upon a Star’, which celebrated its 25th Anniversary last year.

“It was fantastic to see staff from all seven of our UK depots getting involved in the fundraising and our biggest event of the year, the Big Bike Challenge, was a huge success which saw 40 colleagues, customers and suppliers cycle a total of 726 miles.

“Our Big Bike Challenge involved the entire Fowler Welch team,” Nick added, “and the route was designed to stop at all seven of our UK depots – from Newton Abbot in Devon, through to our Washington depot in Northumberland, via our other depots in Hilsea, Paddock Wood, Teynham, Spalding and Heywood.

“It took us a whole week, but the event from start to finish was great fun and a real team effort! I am extremely proud of everyone who took part.”

‘When you wish upon a Star’ has granted over 16,000 wishes to children across the UK living with life threatening illnesses, since it was set up by founder, Barbara White OBE MinstF, in September 1990.

Nick added: “We wanted to raise as much money as we could to help this amazing children’s charity bring smiles to the faces of many more brave, courageous children and we look forward to seeing how the money will be spent.”
