The Hörmann Group recently announced the opening of a 6,000 sq m training and exhibition centre at the company’s headquarters in Steinhagen, Germany. The centre is open to both Hörmann employees and the manufacturer’s wider network of approved dealers and installers, for detailed product training and demonstrations.

In the UK Hörmann offers regular door school programmes for its industry partners. Uptake on the courses is always high, with sessions available to new and existing trade customers.

Hörmann’s industrial partners play a key role in the business’ performance. In addition to the company’s own team of dedicated installers, the manufacturer also works with a selected group of approved contractors to fit its industrial doors and loading bay equipment across the UK.

All partners go through detailed training before being authorised to fit Hörmann products and are audited periodically to ensure staff are up to speed with the latest developments. Hörmann is now planning to increase the frequency of these checks to two per year, with a view to using the results gathered to develop its seminar programme further.

Respected for the high-quality German engineering of its products, Hörmann is committed to ensuring that its equipment is installed correctly and maintained to the optimum level. As well as training for installers, the company also offers its own multibrand service packages.

Adoption of service contracts has been growing steadily, with the business now estimating that 30 – 40 per cent of its larger installations are sold with a service package. Customers who opt for these contracts can benefit from extended warranties and discounts on Hörmann replacement parts, on top of enjoying the operational and safety benefits associated with professional maintenance and repair.

For businesses with in-house engineers, Hörmann also offers specialist maintenance and repair training. What’s key for the manufacturer is that its products are kept in the best working order to ensure a long service life for customers, so training is available to support their individual requirements.

Professional development is central to any successful company and is becoming increasingly important within all areas of Hörmann’s business. The manufacturer enjoyed a particularly prosperous 2015 and is hoping this new approach will drive similar results this year.
