The UK’s top manufacturer, designer and supplier of forklift attachments has been called upon to provide a storage solution for a leading decorative laminates and wood, plastics and solid panel specialist.

April---PRContact Attachments supplied four of its standard 1.6m3 capacity forklift tipping skips to Starbank Panel Products Ltd, which works across a number of sectors within the construction and interior fit out markets.

The innovative new attachments help its production team safely store off-cuts before they are tipped into a large shredder and Biomass system, which reduces their carbon footprint and heats the manufacturing plant.

Phillip Darbyshire, Managing Director of Starbank Panel Products Ltd, explained: “We initially thought that we needed four of the heavy duty tipping skips, but on discussion with the Contact Attachments team, who asked why we needed them and what they were to be used for, it became clear that we’d only need the regular 1.6m3 capacity. They not only provided us with great customer service and identified the best model for our needs, but also saved us money!”

The Forklift Tipping Skips are the ideal choice for placing in fast-moving environments such as storage or production areas, and help to keep areas clear from waste materials and debris, which could pose a health and safety risk to employees. The regular model is the firm’s most popular, as it offers a good volumetric capacity able to effectively accommodate low weight and high volume materials such as panel product, timber and solid laminate off-cuts.

Contact Attachments offers a longer service life for its regular duty skips by using 3mm thick steel for their under-frames, and each model comes pre-drilled as standard with castor plates for fitment of retrocastors if required, eliminating the need for on-site welding. The skips are also fully fitted with twin locking mechanisms for added safety and security to the forklift truck, in particular for when skips have been loaded unevenly.

Dave Manuel, Sales and Technical Director at Contact Attachments, said: “We had to arrange an extremely quick turnaround of the tipping skips, as the client was actually making a delivery near to our site in Newtown, Mid Wales, and could easily pick them up during the same trip. We had to make appropriate plans and reduce the lead time considerably, and suffice to say, the arrangements came together brilliantly and we’re pleased that he was able to utilise his transport to both deliver and pick-up.”
