UTL, a Unipart Group company, has scooped four top supply chain awards including best supply chain company in Europe at a major industry event in London.

The UTL/ Waterstones partnership swept the board at the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards, winning four awards for Retail and E-Tail, Logistics and Distribution, 3PL of the Year, and finally Overall Winner, being commended by the judges for outstanding supply chain practice.
UTL’s facility in Burton-on-Trent employs approximately 250 staff, and plays a critical role in supporting Waterstones’ operation and strategy, delivering substantial savings whilst supporting significant levels of growth.
It handles multi-channel volumes of up to 100 million books each year plus related product, with significant peaks in demand during seasonal periods, distributing to around 300 retail stores.
The partnership was recognised for the supply chain transformation that has enhanced the Waterstones customer experience across its 300 shops, significantly reducing both lead time and cost.
Waterstones Managing Director James Daunt said: “These awards are a fantastic recognition of the work and intelligence that has been applied in UTL’s steady transformation of operations at the Burton Hub.
