Roles have been reversed at a warehouse owned by the waterproofing technology and building protection specialist, Icopal, as Union Industries complete a complex installation to help combat the winter weather.
18536The Leeds-based market leading manufacturer of industrial Fast Roller Doors has fitted a bespoke solution that will replace a PVC strip curtain which covered a 6m x 4.5m opening and provided little protection from external elements. After careful consideration, Union Industries designed, manufactured and installed a large Bulldoor with adjacent separate pedestrian doorway, which will ensure forklift trucks and employees accessing the warehouse will be segregated, improving safety. The remaining space has been fitted with aesthetic, durable steel infills which will help to keep the winter weather at bay.

With an opening speed of 1.6m/s, the 3.0m x 3.5m Bulldoor can be activated by induction loops or push buttons, and closes after a short dwell time, which is key to creating a warmer and more pleasant working environment for Icopal’s staff.

The Bulldoor comes with free entry into Union’s Lifetime Warranty Scheme which was introduced several years ago. This cover, which is included as standard, not only provides an extensive guarantee but also includes service visits from Union’s highly trained technicians as required. In common with the other doors in the range, the Bulldoor also features Union’s highly-regarded ‘Crash-Out & Auto-Reset’ damage protection facility, which ensures the door remains operable if the heavy duty steel composite bottom beam is hit by a vehicle.

The Icopal Group, headquartered in Denmark, has more than 160 years’ experience and is the world leader in waterproofing and building protection technology. From its UK headquarters in Manchester, it offers a range of construction membranes, support services and insured roofing guarantees.
Union-Industries-1-copy[10]Neil Irwin, Technical Sales Engineer at Union Industries, said: “Often the service and products we supply need to be tailored to meet the needs of the client; having full control of the design and manufacturing processes gives us the agility to react to these demands effectively.”

Mike Rimmer, Engineering Manager, said: “We needed an effective solution for our warehouse before the winter weather arrived, and time was of the essence. Union acknowledged this and has been very efficient in delivering a solution that addressed our needs. Both doors and also the bespoke infills will allow our employees to carry on working throughout the winter months without being affected by the drop in the outside temperature”
