Over a number of years Dexion has supplied Scania’s worldwide distribution centre in Opglabbeek, near Genk, Belgium, with a mixture of racking and shelving, helping to make the best possible use of their warehouse space. From this large distribution centre Scania sends parts all over the world for their lorries.

Solution

Scania’s lorry parts range in size from a small washer up to a full size lorry cab and they therefore require a mix of solutions for both storage and picking.

Their warehouses are typically 10m high and making the most of that space was important to Scania.

Capacities

As various warehouses at the Opglabbeek, near Genk site have been added so Dexion has been involved in designing the storage systems, from outdoor galvanized racking for the unfinished lorry cabs, to wide aisle and narrow aisle racking for bulk stock of parts and multi-tier shelving systems for picking of individual items.

Solutions:

• P90 Wide Aisle 9000mm high, with beams up to 3600mm wide allowing 32 pallets per bay to be stored.

• P90 Narrow Aisle 9000mm high

• HI280 multi-tier 3 stories high

• P90 supported mezzanine, with 2 tier HI280 shelving above

• Galvanised P90 for lorry cab storage outside

There are over 80,000 pallet locations within Dexion racking inside the warehouse.
