WLN – What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

Ute-FilipponeGenerally the fact that no day ever is the same – literally every customer is different, has different requirements and is struggling with different issues in the operation of their fleet. Right now, I am really enjoying the fact that I can now focus on the UK, I like traveling the country and meeting new people, even if some of the accents can be a bit challenging if you are not a native speaker.

WLN – Who’s inspired you most in your career?

Tina Turner – she certainly proved that you can always start over again any time as long as you are true to yourself.

WLN – If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

The coffee machine – for one thing, I need coffee to function properly but also people would gather around me and I’d get a good insight into their thoughts and concerns – and hear all the gossip!

WLN – If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

Nothing. I have not taken the straightest path but I have always worked in smaller companies in totally different industries and thus, learned a lot by personal experience rather than from a text book.

WLN – What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

Sending an email to the completely wrong person and spilling a large cup of coffee over me right before I had to interview a candidate – one of the very first interviews I ever had to conduct.

WLN – Who or what makes you laugh?

The little disasters in life, especially when they happen to me.

WLN – Do you have any hidden talents?

It’s not so hidden: I am a pretty good cook and I am just expanding my knowledge into vegetarian dishes as per the request of my daughter.

WLN – Who would be your favourite party guest?

I think I would love to have my grandpa back for a party. He passed away a number of years ago and he was very ill for many years, but back in his day, he was the life and soul of every party.

WLN – What is the greatest luxury in your life?

When I suddenly, unexpectedly have time for my daughter, my friends or for myself.

WLN – What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

Won’t tell!

WLN – Do you have any secret ambitions?

I so wish I could sing.

WLN – What’s your dream holiday destination?

A nice sandy beach by the sea, whether it be The Sandbanks, Texel, Majorca or Mauritius.

WLN – What are your three favourite movies of all time?

I must admit that I love romantic comedies: Love Actually, 4 Weddings and a Funeral and to really laugh: the first movie of the Pink Panther series.

WLN – What is your favourite book of all time?

Seacrow Island by Astrid Lindgren. It holds so much deep insight into what is important in life, advocates diversity and just the right amount of anarchy.

WLN – What’s your favourite pastime?

Walking or reading a book on the beach.

WLN – If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

Well, that does depend on the amount… If it was a lot, not tell anybody at first and develop a plan of what to give to whom and what kind of business I would like to buy or start.

WLN – What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

If you are a down-to-earth, straight forward person, this is the right environment.
