Another world first for high-speed door manufacturer EFAFLEX with the introduction of their energy saving ‘EFA-TK’ range designed specifically to combat heat loss. This latest product innovation is set to revolutionise door technology in cold, chilled and sub-zero distribution environments including food producers and supermarket suppliers. The EFA-SST®-ISO-60 combines two EFAFLEX door technologies; the unique patented spiral design coupled with the highly insulated laths which together provide an innovative solution to reduce energy bills and safe working environment.

With a heat transfer of down to 0.62W/m²K at dimensions W4000 x H4500 mm, this low-energy door achieves more than any of its competitors. A dynamic door blade and AFM (Active Framework Mechanism) spiral track  ensures that the door blade remains pushed against a seal around the door frame when closed and thereby practically hermetically sealing off the deep freeze area. Unlike other high-speed doors, the spiral box of the EFA-TK-100 featuring EFA-AFM is mounted on the outer, warm side of the door which protects it against increased wear reducing the likelihood of costly downtime and repair.

Contact surface heaters are employed throughout the whole door and integrated into the seals and contact bar resulting in a U value down to 0.74 W/m²K and operational temperatures between + and – 30°c making it ideal for cold stores and loading areas.

General Manager for the UK Darren Turrell summarised the benefits. ‘Reducing energy costs are fundamental to businesses operating within the food industry, but movement of produce is essential. Considering proper insulation of buildings and effective cooling systems go so far, but goods in and out means unavoidable door openings. With our help, clients can create constant refrigeration in cold storage areas. With the benefit of fast opening door blade speeds of up to 2 meters per second, heat loss and energy costs are minimised. ’

Turrell went on ‘The hallmark German precision engineering is well known within the industry with the likes of Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Lidl all trusting EFAFLEX high-speed doors to provide exceptional performance and add value to their premises.’

The excellent insulation properties of this door are achieved using 100 mm thick EFA-THERM laths and guarantee better heat insulation than ever before.
