As part of a special campaign, Fronius is offering selected battery charging systems in the Selectiva model range with a free five year full warranty. That’s an additional three years’ warranty on top of the standard warranty. Users can also decide to take out this warranty extension at a later time – up to one year from the purchase date.

Providers of forklift trucks are especially well-positioned to benefit from this free warranty extension when concluding leasing contracts. For fleet contracts in particular, this form of rental – with terms of up to five years – is already standard practice on the market. The provider’s task is to select suitable components for the customer – i.e. the vehicle, battery and charging system. Any failures of these components must be kept to a minimum over the leasing period. After all, too many failures may throw off the leasing provider’s calculation and mean that a loss is made on the deal.

With longer contractual terms available on request, this option not only allows users to receive well-known, high-quality battery charging systems, but also promises significantly greater reliability – something that is especially necessary with full-service contracts. The warranty extension is available when purchasing battery charging systems via the Fronius sales partners Manbat Ltd and IBCS (Industrial Battery and Charger- Services Ltd.), or directly from Fronius UK. The warranty extension relates to selected charging systems for battery voltages of 24, 48 or 80 Volts.

The battery charging systems are based on the Ri charging process. This means that they minimise energy loss during the charging process, thereby reducing energy costs and CO2 emissions whilst simultaneously increasing the service life of the battery. Unlike with conventional processes such as 50 Hz transformer or high-frequency (HF) technology, the charging process does not follow a fixed characteristic with a given current. Instead, the current is determined by the effective inner resistance (Ri) of the battery, which is dependent on the battery’s age, temperature and state of charge. Each charging process is therefore unique and has an individual characteristic. Accordingly, this makes it possible to minimise overcharging, which causes a high level of energy loss and heats up the battery with detrimental effects. The new technology is already being put to use by numerous well-known companies, including within the automotive, food and logistics sectors.
