Eddie Stobart Logistics was founded as an agricultural business in the late 1940’s but expanded rapidly during the 70’s and 80’s into the iconic brand that it is today. Their success was due in no small part to their insistence on spotless, branded Lorries and clean uniformed drivers. That ethos has carried through to the present day with exceptional standards applicable to all aspects of the business. All warehouses are very busy, upholding hygiene levels for both employees and customers is a key focus.

Their chosen cleaning fleet includes SR1601 & SW8000 Sweepers, BR1100 & SC6500 ride on Scrubber Dryers and the ecologically accredited hybrid Sweeper/Scrubber the CS7000.

Pre-sale Support

The cleaning fleet represents substantial investment for the Stobart Group and as a result the pre-sale evaluation process was extensive. The evaluation included multiple demonstrations and trials, encompassing operators and managers from a number of operating sites. Brian Smith, MHE Manager within Eddie Stobart’s Contract Logistics and Warehousing Division managed the national selection process.

Given particular attention was the CS7000 LPG hybrid sweeper/scrubber which was designed to reduce cost of operation and provide fuel savings of up to 30%. The CS7000 impressed with productivity standards at 7756 actual square metres per hour and its revolutionary hot water scrubbing facility. Water is heated up to 55 degrees and can be used with or without concentrated chemical.

Build quality and reliability is critical in order to stand up to the hard working requirements of all depots. Productivity, performance and total cost of ownership was examined in considerable detail.

Service Critical

Above all else service was identified as a major deciding factor. Brian Smith commented on this important element; ‘We simply cannot afford for cleaning equipment to be out of service for long periods. Our requirement is for the same level of service that we receive from our forklift suppliers. That means same day service and a limited downtime guarantee. To date Nilfisk are keeping to their promised service level and we are very happy that they have embraced change with regards to service support within their sector.’

‘The installation training provided upon delivery was very informative and essential for our operatives to fully understand the equipment and ensure it delivers optimum performance at all times. The commitment to future complimentary training is also much appreciated in order to support our depots going forward.’

Comfort Factor

Whilst service was identified as crucial, trial feedback was considered from all parties with regard to ease of use and operator comfort level. Some depots operate 24/7 and personnel can be operating the machines for hours at a time.

Without exception the Eddie Stobart personnel found the equipment to be of a very high standard and comment on the ease of use and comfort experienced since operating the new equipment.

Testimonial

Eddie Stobart’s MHE Manager, Brian Smith is delighted with the contract performance to date saying; ‘We are very happy with the approach Nilfisk has taken in supporting our business and we plan to continue to work in partnership with them for the foreseeable future.’
