In 2009, Linde delivered an H25T to WH Malcolm and we are about to witness the truck reach an incredible milestone of 37,000 operating hours.
WH Malcolm is part of the Malcolm Group offering a range of different products and services where “practical solutions, successful partnerships” is engrained throughout their business. Part of the group is WH Malcolm Logistics which provides 24-hour, year-round operation.
At the warehouse and glass manufacturing facility in Alloa there is currently a fleet of 31 machines including Linde engine counterbalance and powered pallet trucks. The 24/7 site has a resident Linde Engineer John Alford maintaining the entire fleet and 12 of the trucks are H25Ts fitted with 5.6 triple masts and cascade double pallet handling attachments.
One of the H25Ts delivered in 2009 is now reaching an incredible milestone and is soon to reach its 37,000th operating hour. The truck is primarily used to move palletised glass bottles working in both indoor and outdoor conditions and is working an average of 16 hours a day. To try and put this into perspective, if you compared a car that drove on average 30mph for 37,000 hours it would have over a million miles on the clock!
George Ramage, Operations Manager at W H Malcolm said “downtime is critical in a 24/7 site and Linde has more than proved it is up to the job. Our resident Linde engineer John Alford is a real asset to keeping our business moving”. All the trucks on site are maintained by Linde and have been religiously serviced when they are due. In addition to this truck there are also 10 or 11 other trucks with more than 32,000 operating hours on them. Only the Linde site engineer is allowed to do oil/coolant top ups to ensure the correct levels and spec of the oils used.
