Union Industries, the UK market leading manufacturer of Industrial Rapid Roll Doors, has returned to Jotun Group to install a further three heavy duty Bulldoors at its Flixborough-based manufacturing facility.

The latest additions are required to support Jotun Group’s new heating and ventilation system, which has been installed to eliminate fumes in the factory and make for a more pleasant working environment.

With the facility being accessed on a regular basis by both pedestrians and forklift trucks carrying pallets, the high speed doors will reduce environmental ingress and also allows for a consistent temperature to be maintained.

Two of Union’s doors have been fitted in ATEX zoned areas where only certified electronics can be used due to the explosive atmosphere created by Jotun’s production processes. Union’s photocell system was specifically chosen as the door’s activation method due to its ability to operate effectively, and safely within the hazardous area.

In common with the other doors in the range, the Bulldoor also features Union’s highly-regarded ‘Crash-Out & Auto-Reset’ damage protection facility, which ensures the door remains operable if the heavy duty steel composite bottom beam is hit by a vehicle.

The Jotun Group is a leading supplier of paints and powder coatings that have been specially developed for unique conditions. It has 68 companies and 33 production facilities on all continents.

Paul Chable, Senior Technical Sales at Union Industries said: “It’s always great to see one of our existing customers return; it speaks volumes for the quality of our doors and aftersales service. Nearly 70% of orders we receive for our doors is repeat business from existing customers! Our Bulldoor is extremely reliable, it just keeps going and going and is often the reason for repeat orders such as this.”

John Holliday, Project Engineering Manager at Jotun Group, said: “As a company we pride ourselves on creating high quality products and to do so we must create a facility, which is conducive to this. Union is commonly referred to as the best in the market and I would certainly agree with that view. Its engineers weren’t fazed by working in a hazardous environment and I had the upmost confidence in their ability.”
