New distribution network launches with 1,000 vehicles in 25 locations

Hi-Cube-Logo-2-CMYK-04A new logistics company has launched, covering the UK and beyond, specialising in high-cube trailers.

The High Cube Network brings together eight companies, between them operating more than 1,000 vehicles from 25 locations across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Six member companies are high cube specialists, meaning they operate longer, taller trailers, including some with 30 pallet capacity, which reduces the costs of distributing high-volume, low-weight goods such as cereals, paper tissue or plastic containers.

Managing director Mick Wilson, formerly at Norbert Dentressangle UK said: “Buying competitive transport services when you require non-standard hi-cube trailers is always a challenge. The solution is to find a way of reducing empty running. The cost of the tractor, trailer, driver and fuel are broadly the same for all carriers. Managing overheads and being able to operate efficiently is what makes the difference.

“High Cube Network combines many hundreds of high cube trailers and full UK coverage to provide a unique opportunity for those customers whose challenge is cube rather than weight. We have the joined up resources of established logistics companies, the insight of industry specialist Peter Surtees and we run tried and tested Smartways software.

“Each of the member companies has the passion and accountability of a family-run business, so High Cube Network customers are assured that their goods are in the hands of a business which will do what it promises.”

The backbone of the High Cube Network is a custom-built intelligent software system which selects the most appropriate handlers and designs the best and most efficient route.

Mick Wilson added: “The High Cube Network forms one of the most comprehensive and capable high cube distribution networks in the country. With hundreds of years of accumulated expertise, the combined number of high cube trailers and our geographical coverage provides a unique opportunity for customers whose challenge is cube rather than weight.”
