Kite Packaging recently celebrated the Kite Air Shock’s one year anniversary and has since been targeting major drinks retailers to take a look at their existing packaging and give Air Shock a go in order to reduce damages. The product was bought to market at the 2013 Packaging Innovations Show and was swiftly rolled out to the company’s Major Account’s division and online operation.

The range of lightweight air packs, manufactured from LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) and PA (Polyamide) to improve air retention are available to buy with or without outer cartons, and in a range of sizes.

The product has seen significant growth in a range of sectors; in particular the larger air packs have seen a huge success in the bathroom fitting industry. However, Kite have also been concentrating strongly on the luxury drinks market and supplying its Air Shock bottle packs to retailers supplying fine wines, champagne and customised drinks to consumers.

Cost is a key driver in the success of Air Shock. For fragile bottles that typically use expensive packing materials such as polystyrene, Kite has seen a 15% saving in overall pack material cost, and have reduced damage rates from an average of 8% down to zero.
