2014 has been a milestone for Midac in many respects. Not only has the business achieved record sales in both the UK and globally, but the factory also celebrated a special birthday – 25 years of manufacturing high quality industrial power batteries.
Midac UK Ltd forms part of Midac Spa, an Italian manufacturer of Motive Power, Automotive and Standby batteries, supplied to OE and replacement markets across the globe.
The manufacturing plant is based in Soave, Northern Italy and operates under Gemba Kanri team production principles, so operations are continually analysed and improved. Other control systems include Kanban and the Japanese 5S concept of ‘there is a place for everything and everything in its place’. All these principles contribute to a lean efficient manufacturing unit that produces high quality products within a safe environment.
During 2014, Midac focused on innovation and in particular ‘Integrated Solutions’.
In May, Midac showcased a number of new ranges at the industry’s CeMat exhibition in Hannover. Products offer either reduced energy consumption, high efficiency, fast charge or low maintenance benefits and received a very positive response from customers. Products are already on trial in the UK and the company expects sales to rocket next year.
Midac UK is not ‘just a battery company’ and specialises in total battery solutions for the materials handing market – from battery room design, battery change equipment, ventilation systems, batteries, chargers, watering ancillaries through to ongoing battery maintenance and service – everything required to keep goods moving. All batteries and chargers are sold in the UK with a 5 year guarantee, which provides customers with added confidence to try products for the first time.
