Announcing the programme for this year’s National Fork Lift Truck Safety Conference, Is there a killer in your warehouse: 5 real-world ways to transform fork lift safety, the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) has urged industry leaders to draw inspiration and support from examples of fork lift safety “heroes” to achieve true safety excellence.

The one-day event, sponsored by Briggs Equipment UK, will take place at Warwick University on Wednesday 24th September.

FLTA Chief Executive Peter Harvey said: “Although every business is unique, from its structure to its site, they do have a lot in common. At its most basic, all share issues such as operational hazards, compliance issues and training requirements.

“But for significant change to take place, a site must nurture a culture of safety – which is only truly possible with total engagement.

“However, as many managers will appreciate, achieving this is not a simple task. It’s filled with obstacles for which there is no obvious route map.

Briggs“The path to a safer culture is never without its challenges, but fortunately it is a route which is well travelled.

“That is why, at this year’s Safety Conference, we’ll be introducing delegates to those fork lift safety heroes who have met obstacles head-on. As well as providing practical, honest advice, their unshakeable commitment to nurturing positive safety culture is truly inspirational.”

Attendees at this year’s Conference will hear case histories from companies who have successfully driven change, including case studies from:

• Babcock Marine

• Briggs Equipment UK

• GKN plc

• Interfit UK Ltd

• JCB

• Mentor Training

The day-long event will also feature a presentation from a well-known British hero whose story is one of great personal triumph and courage.

“We’re currently finalising details, but I am certain that he will both humble and inspire this year’s Delegates.”

The Conference’s keynote address will be delivered by Philip White of the Health and Safety Executive and the day will include an update from the Accrediting Bodies Association.

FLTA-SC-CMYK-POS-14In addition, the Conference will host its first-ever Q & A session with a hand-picked Practical Safety Panel. Specialists from a wide-variety of areas – including unions, insurance, legal and training – will offer delegates a range of perspectives and guidance.

The Conference will be held in the Ramphal Building at Warwick University on Wednesday 24th September 2014.

Tickets for the event are priced at £95.00 (excl. VAT) for members of the FLTA or its Safe User Group and £125.00 (excl. VAT) for non-members. The price includes lunch, refreshments and a delegate pack.
