Denholm Global Logistics has significantly enhanced its fleet of materials handling equipment after taking delivery of six new Cat® lift trucks, including four 2.5 tonne LPG-powered forklifts and two 1.0 tonne high-level order pickers. The delivery was completed with four specialist 2 tonne Aisle Master articulated trucks, all supplied by Impact Handling’s Manchester branch, which opened in 2013.

This is the first time Denholm Global Logistics, one of the largest independent UK logistics companies – which offers a full range of supply chain services to a wide variety of international customers – has worked with Impact Handling. The order comes after Impact Handling impressed with its overall service offering, including flexible payment terms, product performance and the ability to deliver machines into service quickly.

With a team of more than 150 mobile engineers providing 24/7 support to materials handling fleets, Denholm Global Logistics was assured that in the event of an emergency, a technician will be on site within a four hour window – although Impact Handling’s average response time is less than two hours.

Barry Chester, Warehouse and Transport Manager at Denholm Global Logistics, says: “Our materials handling fleet is worked intensively for a minimum of 16 hours a day, rising to 24 hours in the months leading up to Christmas. We need machines that are durable and can cope with the demands we put on them. Impact Handling’s products not only match our needs, but their service levels have really impressed us.

“The new assets replace older trucks and the team at Impact Handling worked hard to ensure the transition from old to new equipment was as seamless as possible, minimising downtime. Impact Handling has really delivered.”

The new GP25N 2.5 tonne trucks are fitted with a high-powered and clean LPG engine, which enables them to run efficiently and reliably regardless of the demanding warehouse tasks they undertake.

The two high-level order pickers were recommended by Impact Handling following a site audit, as they will help streamline the company’s warehouse processes. The machines’ robust design is well-suited for working long hours and will need minimal maintenance.

Aisle Master is one of a number of complementary brands of materials handling equipment offered by Impact Handling, which is the sole distributor for Cat Lift Trucks in the UK and Ireland. The specialised articulated trucks are designed to work in narrow aisles, allowing customers to increase storage space and keep aisle access space to a minimum.

The new deliveries join two refurbished pieces of equipment already in service – a Cat power pallet truck and a Hako floor sweeper, also supplied by Impact Handling, which work in Denholm Global Logistics’ warehouse in Newton-Le-Willows. The company is part of Denholm Logistics Limited which also incorporates Denholm Handling, Denholm Transport and Denholm Wilhelmsen.
