Welcome to the June 15th Warehouse & Logistics News.  While we’ve been busy working, the year is slipping by. As we head towards Midsummer’s Day – now just a few days away, on Saturday 21st June – the focus in this issue is on keeping your cool in the busy warehouse when things are hotting up inside as much as they are outside, and making sure everything continues to run smoothly.

FrontWe may be coming into the holiday season, but there’s no let up at any time of year when it comes to the pressure on warehousing and logistics operations to deliver the goods. And it’s no different right now. Based on past years the 2014 World Cup is expected to send much of the British population either to the pub or to the nearest supermarket in search of food and drink for barbecuing around the big screen TV, placing further pressure on keeping the food and drink supply chain filled up.

In our features our seasonal overview of Cold Storage and Distribution takes a timely look at the latest vehicles, equipment, technology and services to help manufacturers and retailers keep their products at the correct temperature in the supply chain. In ‘Power Sources’ we cover all aspects of motive power in the warehouse and logistics environment, including batteries, LPG and engines, while Doors & Curtains takes in industrial doors, curtains and roller-shutters, which are all too easily overlooked until they go wrong, at which point the suppliers who win through are those who can put things right to best effect.

Speaking of solutions to loading bay problems, our front-page story is all about sara LBS – the initials stand for ‘loading bay specialists.’ As a leading UK expert in designing and installing loading bay and industrial door solutions, sara LBS is well known for delivering efficient solutions that reduce energy costs and improve productivity. sara’s services don’t end after installation; they offer a nationwide maintenance and emergency repair service which helps to keep doors and loading bays operational. sara’s engineering network operates from service hubs positioned across the UK, delivering a local service, nationwide. Wherever possible customers are directed to their local centre where they can speak to the engineers on-call to visit their site, and this service means that most contacts become long-term customers with regular maintenance contracts.

Work hard, play hard? Don’t forget, if you’re following the World Cup in excitement in your office or warehouse you can download the Briggs World Cup printable wall planner from our website, www.warehousenews.co.uk – and it’s completely free. Enjoy the tournament!
