The announcement of the warehouse technology upgrade follows the recent expansion of NGF EUROPE’S St Helens manufacturing facility which was driven by the growth in demand for high tensile strength glass cord. The upgrade forms part of NGFE’s drive for innovation which recently saw them awarded the very prestigious and difficult to achieve Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

NGFE achieved 100 per cent visibility and accuracy of customer shipments having previously partnered with TouchStar to rollout RFID technology within their packing and rewind operation. The RFID technology will now be upgraded as part of a hardware upgrade programme in which NGFE will also be rolling out additional barcode technology across the recently expanded manufacturing operation. The additional technology will be used for data capture, streamlining and fulfilment of their various manufacturing processes.
NGFE’s in house developed software will map across TouchStar’s real-time barcode scanning technology that includes the Atlanta 5000, Boston 8550, SX300 handhelds in addition to the Vienna 7500 Series truck mounted terminal. Alistair Poole, Managing Director, NGFE views the technology as a “key product and service enhancement in terms of helping NGFE’s customers meet the ever increasing demands from global automotive manufacturers for improved traceability and mistake proofing”.
