A bespoke replacement project with Sheffield-based transit packaging manufacturer highlighted the performance benefits for integral scissor lifts and the long term cost benefits of investing in higher quality equipment.
Increased downtime, safety and production performance were key issues facing this manufacturer. With more time being spent by their engineers maintaining their scissor lifts, and the equipment proving unreliable and costly, they decided to replace them. Their objective and brief was to primarily reduce downtime and to increase the lifting capacity to handle greater loads at once.
“We were approached with a request to replace three of the customer’s existing static scissor lifts. They had been in operation for five to six years and were used as an integral part of their production machine they had onsite. Two of the static scissor lifts which were required where complete replacements and were the integral lifts, therefore these were required to be supplied to the exact specification of the existing tables,” explained Advanced Handling’s Operations Manager, Greg Owen.
With Advanced Handling’s in house engineering and manufacturing capabilities at their Market Deeping factory the units were delivered to exact specification. Commenting on the end solution, Engineering Technician at Loadhog Ltd, Ben Chandley explained the benefits of the installed scissor lifts; “They have proved to be incredibly reliable, so have saved us countless hours in downtime and maintenance costs. The efficiency of the machine has also increased by 14% beyond the rating from the manufacturer and has saved on labour costs.”
