Around 100 international journalists visited the Rhenus branch in Velten in the federal state of Brandenburg on Thursday, 27th March. The press representatives were given a presentation of the company and the range of services it offers in contract logistics at the location in the north of Berlin. During a guided tour through the warehouse halls, Rhenus employees presented the pharmaceuticals logistics, industrial goods logistics and printed matter & advertising logistics areas. A forklift demonstration rounded off the visit.

Hans Tamaschke, Regional Manager East of Rhenus Contract Logistics, said “Our logistics product portfolio in contract logistics has expanded enormously in the past few years. That applies firstly to the depth of services we provide and secondly to the density of our network of branches. Our clients appreciate the logistics services we provide and the availability of large warehouse areas, especially in metropolitan regions. Our sites in Grossbeeren and not least in Velten as well are prime examples of this solution strategy in the Berlin district.”

During the guided tours through the modern halls of the Velten branch, Rhenus staff presented the warehousing concepts designed specifically for the respective industry sectors. Hans Tamaschke, who presented the site’s know-how to the visitors, explained that “For the pharmaceutical industry, for example, we have a dedicated refrigerated warehouse for medicines and active ingredients that must be stored in low temperature ranges. Our industrial goods clients benefit above all from our forklift technology with a large load-carrying capacity.”

In addition to the theory, the practical aspects did not miss out either. For example the STILL Company, with whom Rhenus in Velten cooperates closely in the demand-based equipping of the branch with industrial trucks, presented its new FM-X reach truck. Summing it up, Hans Tamaschke said “We use these and other means of transport on our site to store and order-pick as efficiently as possible for our customers.”
