World premiere on the Hyundai stand: The 180D-9 heavy-duty forklift will be shown for the first time with Stage IV engine. In the heavy-duty forklift range, Hyundai Heavy Industries offers forklifts with loading capacities from 11 t to 16 t for a 600 mm load centre distance and from 18 to 25 t for a load centre distance of 1,200 mm.

Other high-tech exhibits include the Hyundai 110D-7A and its big brother, the 160D-7A. Where components are concerned, only the highest quality will do – with this in mind the machines are fitted with a Cummins engine complete with ZF torque converter and Kessler axle. The Cummins QSB 6.7 engines in both these forklifts comply with stage IIIB emission regulations – without the need for particle filters but through a combination of Bosch common-rail high-pressure injection and a turbocharger with variable geometry (adjustable guide vanes). A low-maintenance catalytic converter is necessary to achieve the prescribed exhaust emission values.

Comfortable cab improved yet again

Heavy-duty forklifts operate in particularly challenging environments, so the driver safety and comfort is paramount.  Hyundai machines boast a spacious cab with good visibility and generous headroom and legroom. The proportional levers for controlling the pallet carrier, the fork position and other ancillary functions are particularly precise. Many standard features in the cab (air conditioning, radio/MP3 player, now with USB connection) can now be complimented by an air-cushioned comfort seat as an optional extra.

Mounting the cab on silent blocks effectively keeps vibrations and noise away from the driver. The cab’s large windows make it easier to monitor loads and the area around the vehicle. The wide view pallet carriers also have good visibility which contributes to the improved safety of the machine and its driver. Triplex masts are available for lifting heights up to 7,000 mm.

Safety first!

HHIE equips all forklifts with the Operator Presence Sensing System (OPSS). This system offers the following safety functions:

• Automatically engages the handbrake if the driver leaves the machine and the travel direction selector is in the neutral position.

• Prevents the mast from moving if the driver is not in the driving seat.

The standard equipment includes a reversing camera – as an option, up to four additional cameras can be installed and linked to the central display. Operators can also order equipment such as a wheel position indicator and weighing mechanism – making it easy to adapt to specific conditions of use and loads.

The cooling system for axles, brakes, engine and hydraulic system is very powerful and even at high ambient temperatures ensures that the most important components in the drive train and hydraulic system are kept at the optimum temperature. Temperature-controlled hydraulic-powered viscous fans react immediately and at all times adapt their speed to the cooling power actually required.

On the 18- and 25-tonne machines, demand-controlled Bosch-Rexroth variable displacement pumps are used, and together with the electrically controlled manifolds these pumps ensure that devices are supplied optimally and adequately with precisely the right amount of oil required. The load-sensing concept saves fuel, eases the strain on components and is particularly precise.

Increasing reliability

Maximum reliability is paramount with all Hyundai forklifts. Especially with large-size forklifts, which are often used as standalone machines, unplanned breakdowns are not wanted. All maintenance and service points are brought together centrally and can easily be checked in one place from the ground – meaning less ‘down time. More extensive maintenance work is made easier by the tilting cab. It provides access to all the service points for hydraulics, gears and front axle. Permanently installed Minimess connections make it easier to check oil pressures in the system.

Extended warranty for all forklifts from 5 to 25 t

HHIE offers an optional warranty extension for all forklifts from 5 to 25 t. Customers who would like to increase the standard two years (or 2,000 operating hours) can purchase the ‘Extended Driveline Warranty’ for all large-size machines. This is available for various time scales – 36 months (5,000 operating hours), 48 months (6,000 operating hours) or 60 months (7,500 operating hours). Hyundai forklift operators can therefore safely calculate the machine runtime even in demanding work environments.
