A family-run firm specialising in the servicing of commercial vehicles, cranes and earth moving equipment has invested in the latest heavy-duty lifting equipment from West Midlands-based SOMERSTOTALKARE.
Smiths Mechanical Services aims to reduce the risk of slips and falls after installing two sets of SOMERSTOTALKARE S6cf cable free lifts at its workshop in Bridgend.
Previously the firm operated S6ng cabled lifts on site but have chosen to upgrade to the cable free versions to improve health and safety standards and to eliminate the risk of damage to cables, which can be expensive if they need replacing.
John Griffiths, at Smiths, explained: “We’ve chosen to extend our working relationship we have with SOMERSTOTALKARE because, like us, they offer the complete solution with products, servicing and breakdown assistance when required.
“Thanks to the new Cable Free lifts we no longer have to worry about the health and safety issues and the damage costs associated with cables. The wireless option also gives us the flexibility to easily use the lifts as a set of four, six and eight depending upon the vehicles we need to lift.”
From the company’s main workshop, and a network of smaller depots, Smiths Mechanical provides a 24/7 service to haulage firms across Wales and the South West of England. It offers repairs and testing of light and heavy commercial vehicles with maintenance services and workshop facilities covering all MOT requirements from cars and vans (Classes IV & VII) to HGV and PSV vehicles.
