Slatevale have carved themselves a niche market over the last 25 years in the supply of heavy duty profile ‘earthmover’ tyres for the construction, quarrying and plant hire markets.

The company source new and used tyres, primarily from European tyre dealers, which are repaired and then sold to wholesale tyre distributors as well as direct to customers in the construction related sector.

Tyres are refurbished through a process of vulcanisation at Slatevale’s half acre Doncaster premises. The company stock the largest quantity of used earthmover tyres in the UK.

To assist in the handling of the tyres a new Manitou MI35D with a 4m50 Triplex Mast with sideshift carriage and tyre clamp has been purchased from Hessle of Castleford. The main task for the new Manitou is to load and unload curtain sided vehicles where the ‘container spec’ Manitou is the ideal size to fulfil this repetitive duty with ease.

Other handling duties involve stacking tyres in the yard area, each pair of tyres handled weigh in at an average of 1,400kg and are 1m80 in diameter. The tyre clamp fitted to Manitou MI35D is proficient at picking up two tyres per lift and is the perfect combination for precision and minimal damage to the tyre. Pallet forks are used for placing the tyres into the tyre repair bay.

For a heavy duty application the Manitou forklift is a popular choice as the MI35D has good all round visibility, easily accessible for the driver from both sides of the truck and a simple, straightforward design for the daily lifting duties, whatever the tyre!
