Ardo UK, one of the worlds’ largest frozen fruit, vegetable and carbohydrate producers, has gained planning permission for its 19,300 sq ft cold store extension to its existing BRC-accredited packing cold-store facility in Charing, Kent.
Property and construction consultant sbh has been appointed as Employer’s Agent to provide all project management and quantity surveying services, including the 4,000-pallet fit out.
With an eaves height of 16.8m and an additional 5 loading doors, the extension will increase the manufacturing site’s capabilities.
Ardo’s Kent location has excellent motorway links and its close proximity to Dover and the Channel Tunnel allows vehicles to run daily throughout UK and Europe.
Extending the cold store and enhancing the facility’s state-of-the-art equipment and full supply chain management operations will allow Ardo to continue to exceed customer expectations.
Pre-construction works will take approximately 12 weeks and construction will commence in January 2014. With a budget of £3.9m the project will take around 32 weeks and is due to complete in August 2014.
Fernando Jorge, Project Manager at sbh, said: ‘We have a great deal of experience in cold-store facilities and extensions and are confident that our specialist warehouse project managers will deliver an excellent development within time and budget.’
