Premium safety system specialists A-Safe have had a magnificent 2013, with the launch of new products, the evolvement of existing ones, and exciting plans for an even bigger and better range of products revealed today, EXCLUSIVELY in Warehouse and Logistics News.

Installation_360_224_90_c1A-Safe pride themselves as being global but local, and the family owned company who still have their headquarters in their hometown of Halifax, have spread further throughout the world again this year. They have been busy opening headquarters in Australia, Italy, Scandinavia, Thailand and America as popularity of their flexible barrier system increases, and have still found time to design and manufacture new and innovative products, always adding to their already extensive barrier range.

“We always look to make safety better, and we always strive for new solutions to protect and benefit customers too” said A-Safe director James Smith. “Our biggest new range of 2013 was our dock protection that came out towards the end of the summer. With this we’ve revolutionised an area of protection with a simple yet effective design, which makes the lifespan of a dock buffer increase dramatically.”

The Dock Roller is a new and innovative bumper, developed to protect doorways and building structure from trailers. Because it’s A-Safe, it leaves other dock buffers and bumpers in the shade because it’s not just any old normal piece of protection!

A-Safe’s in-house research and development team looked at the problems faced with a standard, static dock bumper. When a trailer backs in to it, the shock still transfers to the structure of the doorway. Immediately, there’s long term risk of structural damage to think about.

The air suspension of the truck then moves the trailer up and down, which causes it to rub against the bumper. This causes a lot of wear and friction damage, and the trailer will also move up and down as its being loaded. A standard bumper will soon chip, scuff, completely wear out and will need to be replaced.

With the unique design of the A-Safe Dock Roller, these problems are dramatically reduced. It’s made from a high-impact polymer outer, and a shock absorbing inner layer and its specialist design means that when a trailer moves during loading, the rollers move with it. Friction and wear is eliminated, and you can expect a longer lifespan from an A-Safe Dock Roller. A series of trials all over Europe led to large orders flooding in from blue-chip companies, amazed at how beneficial and how good this new product was.

Feedback shows that firms such as Sainsbury’s, Smurfitt Kappa, Nestle and Jaguar Land Rover continue to be wowed by how fantastic A-Safe are.

The English firm is always supplying advanced flexible excellence, and the Dock Roller is no different. Great protection and great long term savings!

But it doesn’t stop there. 2013 saw A-Safe introduce a striped bollard to their range for better visibility, and listened to customer feedback to improve their Swing Gate. Previously, the gate was easy to miss in a long run of Pedestrian Barrier, so the company made minor adjustments in the design. Two black rails replaced yellow ones to make them easier to see, and in turn they’d also hide dirty finger marks better. A small, but beneficial improvement to keep an environment more pleasant on the eye.

But behind the scenes their Research and Development team, which has been steadily growing, have been working round the clock on the entire product suite, and are excited to be launching the new iFlex product range in 2014.

“It’s important not to rest on your laurels” said director Luke Smith. “Our ethos is simple: We produce a fantastic product, and when it goes to market we’re already looking in to making it even better. We expanded out Research and Development team in 2013, and we’re already reaping the benefits of that. The new range that’ll be available in the new year will take the industry by storm, and we’re sure that A-Safe will be the only name on everyone’s lips when it comes to segregation and safety”.

It doesn’t seem long ago that A-Safe brought us the RackGuard Leg Protecta, which quickly became the preferred choice of rack leg protection for blue chip companies worldwide. Flexible, strong and independently tested and certified by TUV, it left its competitors lingering in the shade. The competition haven’t even had chance to catch up with A-Safe, as they launch the new RackGuard product in January, the first ‘iFlex’ product on the market.

The iFlex range is the latest system to come from a firm who are already at the top of the health and safety game. Just when you thought A-Safe must be bursting at the seams, they’re going to grow even bigger once again in 2014.
