Stainless steel hygiene products specialist Teknomek has launched a new multipurpose ergonomic workstation to help combat employee repetitive motion injuries and musculoskeletal disorders for improved productivity and workforce comfort.

Recent figures from the Office of National Statistics show that 131 million days were lost to employee sickness leave in 2011, costing employers around £495 per year per employee. Of these 131 million days, 35 million were due to pain or injury in muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves.

That’s why Teknomek’s height-adjustable workstation has been designed and manufactured with health and safety in mind to reduce the risk of these types of injuries. The hydraulically-powered worktop can be either manually or electrically adjusted in height from between 700mm and 1,000mm to ensure employees are working at the correct height. It also ensures employees aren’t using makeshift platforms like pallets, which pose an additional health and safety threat. What’s more, a uniform yet adjustable production line allows employees to move positions without compromising comfort or efficiency, plus it improves wider health and safety, factory aesthetics and general hygiene.

Repetitive motion injuries and musculoskeletal disorders can easily develop in numerous job roles, whether performing static-loading duties or doing repetitive tasks over prolonged periods. But by investing in ergonomic workstations, employers can minimise staff absenteeism due to sickness or injury, reduce staff turnover and guard against litigious claims. They are also demonstrating their commitment to employee diversity by individualising workstations, in turn boosting staff morale and comfort. And that helps boost productivity and profits, too.

Finally, as you’d expect from Teknomek, the workstation remains hygienic and robust in even the harshest work environments across all industries. As with many Teknomek products, the table can also be customised with add-on accessories such as drawer units and retractable waste bins. Manufactured from quality 304-grade stainless steel to exacting standards using precision welding, the steel’s chromium oxide self-healing film ensures the surface is hygienic even when damaged, making the workstation a ‘must’ for contamination prevention. The workstation can also be fitted with an optional polyethylene worktop for extra protection.
