The suitability of Polypal racking and display systems for the builders merchant sector has been further demonstrated by the latest installation undertaken for Rawle Gammon & Baker (RGB) at its new Exmouth premises.  Continuing the company’s programme of growth and development in the south west region – it now operates 17 outlets across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset – RGB has turned to Polypal again to make the most of available space. The prime objective has been to ensure as wide a range of products as possible can be displayed and held in stock to accommodate the demands of both its trade and DIY customer base.

Significantly, Polypal has also created a highly cost effective means of extending the existing storage area by some 33% with the additional installation of a covered storage facility.

“It was important that the layout and installation accommodated as many product types as possible for RGB,” comments John Drake, Business Development Manager at Polypal. “This objective not only applied to the warehouse and the new covered area, but also the Trade Counter area, where we have installed a gondola-based display system to optimise the available space.”

In the original building in Exmouth, back-to-back racking across three aisles now features, with further multi-level bays running the full length of a side wall and a dedicated bulk stock storage area opposite. In most cases, individual bays provide up to three levels of storage although this can be as many as 11 depending on the dimensions of the products concerned.

“In the new covered area, cantilever racking has been installed in the two side wings, with A-frame storage available in the centre,” comments RGB’s Manager Geoff Dobbs. “In each case, the focus is on storage of timber and sheet materials, so optimising accessibility and versatility were, again, the key objectives behind the layout’s design.”

“As an example of our range of storage and display systems coming together to fulfil a client’s specific requirements, this latest installation for RGB is particularly notable,” continues John Drake. “By providing a highly flexible layout and, most importantly, by allowing the company to hold multiple product lines in stock – choice rather than high volume being key to its customers – we have fulfilled the principal objective of the installation.

“We are delighted that this represents another successful installation for RGB as it grows and are confident that it will help the organisation maximise its potential within the Exmouth area,” he concludes.
