Welcome to the December 15th Warehouse & Logistics News, our last edition for the year. This month we’re also publishing our Review of The Year 2012 Supplement in both print and digital formats – don’t miss it!

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers a Merry Christmas. Wherever, however you’re reading this, in print or digitally, we hope you all have a relaxing break and get the chance to enjoy yourselves between now and the New Year.

In this issue we have scheduled features on Fork Trucks, Storage Solutions and Pallets, bringing you the latest news on these crucial elements of warehousing and logistics operations.

We also have exclusive interviews with Ocip Energy, the UK-based LED lighting solutions provider, and Powerlogic, the UK’s leading manufacturer of traction battery handling and changing equipment, whose powered systems reduce the space needed for battery changing for large fork truck fleets by up to 80%. In a tough year for business generally, Ocip’s last quarter has been their busiest in the last four years, as industry gets into LED lighting in a big way. Similarly, Powerlogic’s last year has seen them go from strength to strength with installations for battery changing partners and major projects for new blue chip clients.

The warehousing and logistics marketplace is increasingly global, reflecting the trend in international business, with customers happy to source equipment and services from anywhere as long as they deliver on quality and performance. Our front cover story is about Aisle-Master, the Irish-based narrow aisle articulated narrow aisle forklift truck supplier enabling warehousing operations in Northern and Eastern Europe to optimise their space utilisation, and improve their pallet density and reduce per-pallet costs. Showing Aisle-Master’s versatility, two recent companies using their trucks are Castorama, Poland’s largest home improvement chain, part of Kingfisher plc, and Industrispår AB, the Swedish railway facilities and machinery supplier.

So another year’s nearly over! But not for everyone reading this. While the majority of people in the British Isles grab the chance to relax with family and friends over Christmas, the warehouse and logistics industry goes on working, making sure on-line shopping reaches the customer, shops stay stocked, restaurants and pubs don’t run out of food and drink, and the utility companies public services have the supplies they need. So here’s to all of you. And if we’ve left anyone out, here’s to you as well.

We’ll be back with the next Warehouse & Logistics News on January 15th. In the meantime, have a Merry Christmas.
