Potter Group Logistics’ Ripon distribution centre (DC) is now the home of KW’s largest high delivery agricultural feed blender. With a projected throughput of up to 60,000 tonnes a year the blending unit will provide increased capacity and faster service to the local farming community.

KW, part of AB Agri, is a leading developer of alternative feeds in the UK. The company offers the widest possible range of dry, moist, liquid, blended and compounded feeds alongside more traditional straights, minerals, vitamins, protected fats, secure covers and silage additives.

James Ganley, general manager of Potter Group Logistics’ Ripon DC explains the KW process, “Over 20 different feeds ingredients are delivered into the DC mainly from the local area. These ingredients are then held in stock before being processed through the new agricultural blender at a rate of up to 10 tonnes per mix. Once the ingredients have been blended to nutritionists’ specifications they are either delivered to, or collected by, the local farmers.”

KW’s animal feed blending plant at Potter’s Ripon DC continues a relationship between the companies going back to the 1960s when the founder of Potter Group Logistics, Derrick Potter, worked at KW (formerly Kenneth Wilson Ltd.).

Ganley adds, “The jointly funded venture of equipment and infrastructure strengthens our partnership’s commitment to the local farming community.

The facility complies with UFAS cleanliness and operational standards within KW’s licence and has been audited as an external storage unit.

“Potter Group Logistics has a history of added value work within the agricultural market and not only can we offer these services at Ripon but also our five other DCs across the UK can handle similar projects.”
