Visitors to this year’s Totally Logistics North, which will be held at Doncaster Racecourse during the 26th and 27th September, are also to be given an exclusive opportunity to see inside one of the UK’s largest hardware distribution centres.

During the highly informative mid-week show, attendees will also be able to visit the B&Q DIY national distribution centre at nearby Worksop, to get a first-hand insight into how one of the country’s biggest warehouses operates.

The B&Q centre utilises a range of advanced pallet and carton based storage, distribution and picking solutions, which exhibition firm Carnah Events Ltd believes will prove of big interest to show attendees. These include Logistex Warehouse Management System, automated bulk pallet high bay, miniload replenished eaches picking, pick by light mounted picking cart, tote buffering for order consolidation, robotic stacking of totes on despatch pallets and VNA pallet aisles for larger item picking.

In addition to B&Q there will also be a tour of award-winning lifting and loading bay equipment specialist Transdek’s nearby production facility. Visitors will see the company’s unique range double deck lifts in action, along with its innovative V2G loading system (which loads and unloads all types of goods vehicle to ground level at flat-floor sites), dock lifts and mezzanine floor lifts.

There will also be the chance to discuss solutions to loading bay issues with Transdek experts, who develop systems to cost effectively, improve operations throughout the supply chain and deliver a quick return on investment.

Totally Logistics North and its corresponding Southern event, which will be at FIVE, Farnborough on 10-11 October, will also have a seminar programme aimed at enabling logistics professionals to work even more effectively.

Typical of the seminars is a presentation by OBS Logistics who will be explaining why the adoption of ePOD is on the increase. The session is ideal for companies running their own delivery operations and who are looking to improve customer satisfaction and cut operating costs caused by missed or incomplete deliveries. The benefits of ePOD are huge and when extended across the business can improve cash-flow by ensuring greater accuracy and reducing disputes.

Further details of site visits and show seminars can be found at the exhibition website www.totallylogistics.co.uk where attendees can also register for free tickets. These two exciting logistics shows are both aimed at those seeking the latest advances in materials handling, software and distribution. The two, double-day shows will enable transport, fulfilment and warehouse professionals from all industry backgrounds a chance to meet the leading providers of cutting-edge logistics solutions, from sourcing materials right through to distribution – at one of two easily accessible events.
