Best Factory Awards and Conference headline sponsor Toyota Material Handling UK Take Care with a case study led talk on the Toyota Production System.

Tony Wallis, Operations Director for Toyota Material Handling UK presented at the 2012 Best Factory Conference this week using a real-life case study, from within Toyota Material Handling UK, to illustrate the use of the Toyota Production System and the importance of ‘Taking Care’ of your people, products and processes to achieve success.

Toyota’s year of safety ‘Taking Care with Toyota’ promotes three elements using the guiding principles of The Toyota Way: people as the most important asset in any business, but also one of the greatest costs, products that are safer by design and process, a cultural change which includes training and promotion of best practice.

The annual Best Factory Awards and Conference organised by Works Management in partnership with Cranfield School of Management bring together the best of the UK’s manufacturers to share best practice and celebrate their achievements. The Conference itself gives past winners of the Awards the opportunity to present about how they transformed operations within their factories and businesses.

Tony Wallis Operations Director, Toyota Material Handling UK commented, “We are lucky to have a shared ethos with the Best Factory Awards which is focused on promoting the UK manufacturing industry. The Conference is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to share their experience of best practice and work together towards continuous improvement.”

He added: “This year we focused on a real case study from within Toyota in order to demonstrate how the tools of the Toyota Production System can be used to different operations with significant positive results.”

The case study showing a 2 year redevelopment of Toyota’s Fleet Management Centre which repairs and refurbishes used trucks for second life, demonstrates the process of change it is possible to achieve to increase efficiency, productivity and quality in any operation.

Supporting the UK manufacturing industry and promoting continuous improvement Toyota Material Handling UK have been the headline sponsor of the Best Factory Awards 2011 and the Best Factory Conference 2012.
