Norbert Dentressangle has won a new three-year contract with leading car manufacturer Mazda Motors UK Ltd.

The Japanese company has appointed Norbert Dentressangle to provide a flexible transport solution for the distribution of automotive parts and accessories to its franchised dealerships across the UK.

Mazda selected Norbert Dentressangle based on its ability to accommodate fluctuations in order volumes and short lead times. As well as a flexible service, the supply chain specialist had the systems and expertise to meet Mazda’s requirement for a speedy implementation – it took just two weeks and three days from the date the contract was awarded to start of operations.

Norbert Dentressangle makes collections from Mazda’s parts distribution centre in Staplehurst, Kent, and delivers consignments via its national shared-user night network to approximately 170 dealers per night. Up to 3,200 modules including parcels, roll cages and large cartons are delivered every week before 8:00am the next day.

Mazda is the latest automotive brand to benefit from the flexibility and inherent efficiencies, including reduced vehicle mileage and lower CO2 emissions, of the Norbert Dentressangle night network.

“The execution of the implementation process was very challenging in such a short timescale,” comments Mazda’s Parts and Accessories Sales Manager, David Elphick. “With Norbert Dentressangle’s automotive night network we can react quickly to orders of any size from our dealers. The parts are guaranteed to reach dealerships before 8:00am the next day, which in turn enables them to deliver a high level of service to their customers.”

In addition, Mazda utilises Norbert Dentressangle’s bespoke SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) technology, which allows the company to process orders electronically. The integrated online system improves the overall efficiency of the operation as it ensures orders are processed immediately, allowing Mazda and its dealers to track deliveries using real time information.
