In this issue we have exclusive interviews with Action Storage Systems, AvantiGas, MapMechanics and Mosca Direct, all leading suppliers in their fields.
We also have scheduled features on Pallet Networks, reviewing the major European, UK and regional pallet networks, and Power Sources, covering motive power in the warehouse and logistics environment, including batteries, LPG and engines.
Since Action Storage started in 1986, they have enabled thousands of warehouses to maximise their use of storage space. Standard products are key to Action Storage’s business, but among their larger turnkey storage solutions they have helped many stores across Europe to plan and outfit their stockrooms with their innovative storage products and space planning expertise. Action Storage’s most recent major contracts include projects for City Electrical Factors in Central London and Paris.
AvantiGas is the brand new identity for Shell Gas (LPG), which has delivered LPG products and services to industry since the 1960s for use as a power source for fork lift trucks, a storage heating fuel for warehouses and much more. Now part of UGI, AvantiGas will continue to be managed as a local company, based in Derbyshire and focusing solely on LPG, supplying bulk LPG to industrial users and championing its benefits.
Since we last interviewed MapMechanics in 2010, they have acquired the IP rights for TruckStops, the routing and scheduling system and OptiSite, the map-based analysis tools, giving them total control over these products and enabling them to develop them further. MapMechanics have also expanded their staff and offices and launched two new websites, truckstopsrouting.com, a dedicated site for logistics professionals and www.allmapdata.com, an e-commerce site for maps, speeds and traffic.
Our fourth interview is with Mosca Direct, UK subsidiary of Mosca, the world-leading supplier of automated bundle and pallet strapping machines. Mosca leads the market with SoniXs, its groundbreaking strapping head system, featuring ultrasonic sealing technology. Mosca’s strapping systems are now labelled “GET Inside,” GET standing for Green Efficient Technology.
Turning back to Logistics Link South, as we went to press there was talk of the snow that’s been affecting much of Europe hitting the UK. Readers will remember the whiteout at Sandown in 2009.
