The UK’s largest manufacturer of aircrete systems, H+H UK, has extended its partnership with Scott ELM, a division of the newly rebranded Scott Group, to expand its pallet recovery service for its customers across the UK. Neil Thomas, Director of Housing at H+H UK said, “H+H UK is fully dedicated to operating sustainably in every aspect of its manufacture and customer service. We have a diverse customer base which will be able to utilise the pallet recovery service successfully, in particular, our housebuilder and merchant customers.”

“This initiative will be free to all our customers; so far we have reclaimed 15% of the pallets sent out with our deliveries in 2011, which is a significant increase on the pallets recovered throughout 2009 and 2010. We aim to double this in 2012, equating to almost 200,000 pallets.”

All H+H pallets are marked for identification. Following recovery, pallets are inspected and repaired as required prior to return to H+H plants for reuse. For the benefit of customers, a new page has been developed on the H+H website illustrating the on-going improvement in quantities returned and promoting Scott ELM’s freephone pallet collection hotline.

Scott ELM offers various pallet management services across a range of sectors including specification evaluation, tracking, tracing and recovering transit packaging from market. Services include inspection, repair and refurbishment of transit packaging as well as statistical analysis of packaging performance.

Michael Noble, Managing Director at Scott ELM, said: “We are delighted that H+H and their customers are benefiting so much from our pioneering pallet recovery service in the construction products supply-chain. At H+H, packaging waste reduction is a major focus for the company having recently embarked upon a new ten year programme to improve its sustainability credentials. H+H already has an outstanding environmental status within the market and this service further reinforces its commitment.”

Scott ELM is a division of the Scott Group. The Group was established in 1987 as a family-run sawmill and today employs over 1000 people UK-wide. The business is committed to ensuring customers are at the forefront of the latest industry developments and thrives on finding the most effective solutions for customers with the aim of providing quality products and a professional, straight-talking service at a competitive price.
