BEC Systems Integration grows Reynolds Catering Supplies’ business.
Fresh food distributors Reynolds Catering Supplies realise business growth with data capture specialists, Blackburn-based BEC Systems Integration Ltd.
As a business grows, software should not be a restricting factor. So when Reynolds Catering Supplies Ltd realised their legacy system was seriously impeding customer fulfilment they called in specialist data capture software company, BEC (Systems Integration) Ltd.
Reynolds are a national supplier of high quality fruit, vegetables and salads to trusted restaurant brands such as Pizza Express, Carluccios, and Pret-A-Manger, as well as hotel chain Ramada Jarvis and major contract catering companies. The BEC solution was to integrate Reynolds’ M3 Enterprise Resource Planning System with BEC’s eSmart Warehouse data capture product whilst not causing any disruption to the flow of work in the fast moving environment of the company warehouse.
In the highly competitive atmosphere of catering supplies, having a system in place that allows Reynolds to work in real time on the warehouse floor gives them the necessary edge. Head of IT at Reynolds, Richard Calder says: “The BEC solution is now an essential part of the operation. I’m trying to think how we would cope without it!”
He added: “We’re a 24/7 business. We are either taking goods, or despatching every day and we need exceptional levels of commitment from the company that we deal with.”
There was a short time frame to implement the changes in their warehouse management system and Calder was impressed by BEC’s commitment to achieving integration without compromising quality. He says: “If it was a call at one o’clock in the morning, BEC were there. They answered the calls, which is testament to the quality and professionalism of their team.”
The system provides Reynolds with highly visible and traceable stock and the business can now achieve sustainable growth. Calder said: “We are judged on how accurately and promptly we fulfil customer orders and if we demonstrate that we are doing that in an effective and efficient manner to our clients, then we are fulfilling the key criteria for supply.”
BEC achieved Reynolds’ aims by taking time to fully understand Reynolds system and processes. Andrew Briggs, Technical Manager at BEC said: “The legacy systems were holding back growth. By deploying eSmart Warehouse we have leveraged the power of the ERP host at shop floor level to drive improved accuracy & productivity with an intuitive, efficient and user friendly interface.”
Now in full control of their processes Reynolds are looking to how they can improve their system in conjunction with other modules from BEC’s eSmart:datacapture portfolio. “We are looking at reporting key performance indicators for our warehouse staff and that is a possible area for development in the future.”
