The organisers of a brand-new event for the chilled and frozen supply chain sector have revealed an interesting line-up of seminar presentations.
Comprising the co-located Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution and Frozen & Chilled Foods shows, the event will take place at the Exec Exhibition Centre in Peterborough on 14 & 15 September. The new event is supported by both the Food Storage & Distribution Federation (FSDF) and the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF), and these two influential trade associations will each present seminars in the morning during the show – the FSDF on Wednesday 14 and the BFFF on Thursday 15 – while a variety of other speakers are lined up for the afternoon sessions.
Free seminars for visitors
Chris Sturman, CEO of the FSDF, will kick off the seminar programme on Wednesday 14 September at 10.30am with an introduction to the federation. This presentation will cover recent FSDF activities; the benefits of membership; and the new training structure for the sector, Food Logistics Skills Pathway. Chris will be followed on the podium at 11.00am by Ian Hancock, Chairman of the FSDF’s Technical and Safety Committee, who will present a round-up of relevant technical and safety matters. At 11.30am Jeff Hart, Director of the Lancaster-based consultancy, Wholesale Power, will speak at on ‘Energy Management – Joining up the Dots’ in which he will explain why energy management is much more than simply energy efficiency. Then Chris Sturman returns to the lectern at 12.00 for a talk entitled ‘ATEX and DSEAR: Refrigeration Regulations You Need to Know’. The FSDF will also welcome visitors on its stand, G19, and at the FSDF village, where many FSDF associate members will be exhibiting their products and services.
On the Thursday of the show, BFFF Director-General, Brian Young, will introduce the BFFF line-up, presenting a review of the British frozen food market at 10.30am. Then at 11.00am Graeme Day, BFFF Trade & Sales Manager, will talk about BFFF membership services, returning to the podium at 11.30am after a short refreshment break to speak about BFFF events. At 11.40am, Brian Young returns to explain the federation’s promotional campaigns. Brian will then round off the programme by talking about BFFF’s strategy and future plans, followed by a short ‘Question and Answer’ session at 12.15pm.
The afternoon seminar programme will feature a range of speakers on hot topics in the cold supply chain. Complimentary refreshments will be provided to the audience between speakers on both days.

Adding to the visitor experience will be a live demonstration area, where exhibitors will be able to show solutions and benefits in action for a variety of products, including a number of forklift trucks. Visitors will also be able to enjoy networking in a special café area.

Taking place at the end of the first day of the show, the TCS&D Dinner will make a welcome return after a break of some 15 years.
