A supply chain and logistics consultancy and training company. Our main focus is in advising on outsourcing logistics, auditing and improving warehouse operations and warehouse management training.

What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

The variety in terms of the clients we work with and the products they produce. It can range from tyres to test tubes to public sector uniforms! I also supervise MSc students at Warwick University which is both exciting and rewarding. I’ve also recently been commissioned to write a book on Warehouse Management.

Who inspired you most in your career?

Robbie Burns (not the Scottish poet) was my first manager, a long time before he became Chief Executive of NFC.

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

Productivity chart – showing week on week improvement.

What brought you to this industry?

My year out as part of a four year degree course was at BRS Swindon under Robbie Burns.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

I would have started my consultancy company five years earlier.

What’s your favourite pastime?

Watching any type of sport but mainly rugby now that I’m too old to play.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?

Leaving my wallet at the office when taking an important client to lunch – some still say it was deliberate!!

Do you have any hidden talents?

Do you have any hidden talents? Ability to pronounce and translate Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Gareth Edwards.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?

My golf clubs – I never get to use them!

If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

Go on holiday – it’s long overdue.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Michael McIntyre and Lee Mack – great one liners.

Do you have any secret ambitions?

Represent Wales at anything! Nearest I’ve been is reserve for a Welsh schools rugby trial.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Pembrokeshire coast.

Supertramp – Crime of the Century.

What’s you favourite movies?

Deer Hunter, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

What’s your favourite book?

Wild Swans.

Who or what do you detest the most?

The phrases ‘one stop shop’ and ‘holistically’.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

Learn from as many people as possible and remember their names – networking is so important in this industry.
