imgp1930Bentley Motors Ltd has successfully increased its Aftersales parts storage facility in Crewe, Cheshire, following the installation of SSI Schaefer’s multi-tier R3000 galvanised shelving system complete with two walkway levels.

Bentley Motors now has approximately 11,000 new shelf positions over an area of 950 metres squared designed to suit a large range of automotive Aftersales parts, from pipes, glass, hanging garments and car rugs through to branded merchandise.

As an existing supplier to Bentley and a well known provider of automotive storage systems, SSI Schaefer were asked to tender for the project to install a new Aftersales parts storage system involving a mezzanine floor supporting a shelving system.

However, SSI Schaefer suggested a more cost effective alternative option compared to the mezzanine floor and shelving – a shelving build through system with walkways fixed to the shelving uprights – and as a result won the business.

Steve Rhodes, Senior Aftersales Logistics manager, said: “The three-tier structure is working well for us. SSI Schaefer worked effectively with the Bentley team and the response to change requests was positively supported and dealt with efficiently.”

The three tier storage installation, complete with a  pallet gate at each level, a goods lift and three staircases with handrail protection, has also been designed to incorporate a secure store for high value items. To blend in with Bentley’s corporate colour, the goods lift, staircases and floor fascia have all been finished in green.

SSI Schaefer’s Regal 3000 modular shelving system, is the ideal solution for all shelving storage requirements. It provides a quick economic solution to any small parts and automotive storage problem.
