A Shropshire based timber supply specialist has recently taken delivery of a pair of Nexen’s very latest X-Range forklifts from local dealer, Tony’s Forklift Services of Telford.
The two FDX3.5s are the first 3.5 tonne X-Range machines to be supplied by Suffolk based Nexen Lift Trucks to a UK customer and, for this application, they have been specified with twin drive wheels for improved stability and traction whilst working around the customer’s busy 2 acre site which does not feature ideal ground conditions.
Husband and wife company G.S. & P.A. Reeves was founded nearly 30 years ago and has grown to become a major supplier of timber products to a wide variety of customers within an approximate 100 mile radius of its Wem base, including both DIY enthusiasts and major construction companies.
In order to cope with the handling of many different types of timber from railway sleepers and telegraph poles to fencing supplies and decking, the company currently operates a fleet of four forklifts plus a telehandler.
The two new Nexen units join an existing Nexen machine which has provided virtually fault-free service over the past five years. Commenting on the choice of the new forklifts, Pat Reeves said: “We have been very happy with the performance and reliability of our initial Nexen machine as well as the back-up support provided by Tony’s Forklifts and so we had absolutely no hesitation in placing an order for two new similar units.”
In addition to twin drive wheels, both FDX3.5 forklifts have been equipped with 4.8 m triple full-free masts and are powered by Yanmar 4-cylinder diesel engines developing 42.1 kW @ 2300 rpm.
