Transdek UK is one of the latest companies to successfully achieve SAFEcontractor accreditation, which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.
The accreditation standard was designed to help improve safety standards and reduce injuries in the workplace and, based on its growing renown as a quality benchmark, is now specified as a pre-requisite for any onsite contract work by some of the UK’s most prestigious companies.
Transdek are specialists in the design and supply of loading systems that enable the loading of lightweight, fixed double deck trailers at the DC or store. Market leaders in the field of double deck warehouse conversions, Transdek have worked with some of the UK’s foremost retailers and their suppliers to facilitate the integration of their double deck fleets, including Tesco, Boots, Musgrave and John Lewis.
The market for double deck trailers has experienced rapid growth in recent years based on the high-capacity vehicles’ unique ability to simultaneously cut costs and carbon emissions. “Transdek has grown along with this trend”, said Dean Butler, Engineering Manager for Transdek, “and we recognised that in order to service this market and to manage our growth well, we needed to apply uniform standards across the business.”

The SAFEcontractor accreditation process thoroughly vets companies’ health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Companies achieving the standard are included on a database, accessible to registered users via the SAFEcontractor website. This enables all employers to vet potential contractors at a glance before they agree to work with them. So far, over 120 major national businesses have signed up to use the scheme.
As further proof of their commitment to the safety of their onsite operatives, Transdek have also gained specialist ‘loading bay installer status’ under the Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
