With one of the largest used equipment fleets in the country, Briggs Equipment, the UK’s Cat Lift Truck distributor, has seen growing demand for quality used equipment resulting in one of its best trading months ever, having achieved sales in excess of £1million during May this year. Briggs is also celebrating the recent launch of a new live auction site for its dealer network across the UK and into Europe.
Briggs has seen its used truck sales sustained at 2007 levels, despite the fact that the UK lift truck market in general is more than 50% down. Briggs’ strong online presence, dedicated online stock database together with its newly-launched auction site have fuelled its success.
John Murphy, Briggs Equipment’s used equipment manager, says: “We have 750 or so dealers in the UK and hundreds more internationally and the new auction site makes sure our customers have regular access to great quality machines at exceptionally competitive prices. Each auction lasts for approximately a week and features carefully chosen trucks from our 600-strong stock database.
“We think that we have the best online used presence in the industry. The database technology that we use, coupled with transparent pricing means that our customers get complete visibility to stock, that is updated daily.”
