As a team of four parched and panting golfers scanned the near horizon for their balls they saw what appeared to be cold, clear water. As they edged forward the image became clearer. Not only was there iced water, there was cool Red Bull, firm chocolate and a bunch or two of ripe bananas.
It may have been a mirage, but as they approached even closer it was clear it was not. Sat right in the middle of the goodies on display was John Chalkwright, of Warehouse & Logistics News. He was certainly no mirage and all the more welcome because of that. It had been a hot, balmy day, and all of the golfers who attended the Fork Lift Truck Association annual Golf Day at Buckingham Golf Club on 23rd June found him a very welcoming sight. Indeed we were all grateful to Warehouse and Logistics News for providing much needed refreshments throughout the day.
Despite the very welcome hot weather there were some masterly scores. Kim Pugh of West Mercia Fork Trucks Ltd had a particularly good day, as can be seen from the results listed below. He scored 43 during the afternoon Stableford competition, followed closely by Guy Padgham of GE Capital Solutions, Equipment Financing, with a score of 42. GE went on to win the team event with a 3 ball score of 110, and they too had a really successful day.
