llop-1Following on from the successful launch of its class-leading OPBH10N high level order picker, Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks has introduced the all-new, high-spec OPB20NE as the premium model in its low level order picker range.

With its ultra-modern styling, which features attractive, highly effective, white LED lighting, the OPB20NE is easily distinguished from all other models in the company’s OPBN and OPBLN series. Beneath that exterior, the product designers have incorporated a number of key developments to boost productivity. The result is a 20 per cent efficiency advantage over competitors.

To speed up entry and exit, the operator has been given a spacious, uncluttered, walk-through compartment in which to ride. In fact, this space has been increased by a massive 40 per cent – creating the market’s biggest operator platform yet.

This has been achieved largely by placing the battery behind the compartment instead of in front of the operator – and there has been no increase in the truck’s external dimensions.

With a suspended drive unit, a shock-absorbing floor mat and a conveniently placed backrest, comfort during operation is assured. Chamfered edges provide a smooth but high-grip surface for stepping onto the platform. The entire floor mat acts as a ‘deadman pedal’, allowing the truck to move when the operator is in place.

One particularly noticeable feature of the OPB20NE is the completely new, ergonomically styled “Maxius” steering wheel, which looks similar to those used in Formula 1 racing cars.  Comfortable and responsive, the steering wheel houses the truck’s various operating controls – bringing them within easy reach. It can be operated using one hand, and can be adjusted to each operator’s ideal height and position.

An advanced electric steering system, with automatic speed reduction in curves and automatic drive wheel centring, gives precise control at all times. This, together with a compact chassis and small turning circle, makes the truck highly manoeuvrable.

A powerful AC drive motor accelerates the OPB20NE rapidly to a top speed of 12 km/h when the operator is riding.

For extra versatility, he or she can select ‘walk-beside’ mode – during which the truck’s electronic controller sets a safe limit of 2.5 km/h.

The programmable controller can also be used to adjust acceleration, speed and braking settings for different operators and applications. PIN-codes linked to performance modes allow parameters to be set individually for each operator.

To meet a variety of needs, Mitsubishi offers two low level order picker series and many optional features. The OPBN series has four models – including a tiller arm version. For those needing to pick at the second level, there are three models to choose from in the OPBLN series.

Mike Jones, General Manager of Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks says:  “As the latest product launches have proved, there is much more to Mitsubishi than its famously ultra-reliable counterbalance trucks. In fact, around 30% of our UK business is now focused on warehouse equipment – and each model we sell comes with all the quality and reliability you would expect from any Mitsubishi product.”
