arla-washA new contract has been agreed with PPS Wash to wash plastic crates for Arla Foods in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, which has experienced an increase in volume at the site.

PPS Wash, which is part of PPS Equipment Management Ltd at Measham in the Midlands, offers clients a wash service for plastic crates, trays, tote boxes and plastic pallets using state-of-the-art industrial washing procedures. The company was recently awarded ISO 22000:2005 accreditation.

Before beginning the contract, Arla conducted a full audit of the Measham site to ensure PPS met its exacting quality standards. Arla and PPS Operations personnel have worked closely on a round the clock delivery and collection programme to cater for precise customer delivery schedules.

The commencement of this contract required that PPS operates a full additional shift with the creation of eight new jobs.

Since opening its Measham site around eighteen months ago, PPS has secured a number of crate, tray and pallet wash contracts largely from the food, pharmaceutical and retail sectors. As well as contractual washing, PPS will wash on an ad hoc basis, to cater for production spikes or, as in one recent example where a client with an existing wash site was refurbishing its factory.

PPS’s success in the Midlands has seen increased interest in other parts of the country, and as a result, PPS is now considering opening a wash operation in Central Scotland.
